Drivers license restrictions may have had a positive effect on the car accident rate among New Jersey teenagers.

The AAA Foundation for Safety has reported that the number of fatal crashes among the state’s 17-year-old drivers has dropped by 32 percent. In addition, there was a 44 percent reduction in the crash rate among 17-year-olds during the midnight to 5 a.m. time frame. Officials credit this success to the Graduated Driver’s License program, which restricts the number of passengers allowed in the vehicle, increases the amount of practice driving required, and adds late-night curfews for teen drivers.

These proactive steps taken by our state government and police forces have made the road safer for all drivers. If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, contact the Edison personal injury lawyers of Levinson Axelrod by calling 800-346-5529.
