Pedestrian killed while crossing Route 46

According to police, a woman in her 30s has been killed in a pedestrian accident after crossing Route 46  on foot last Thursday.

Police officials have said that the woman was crossing Route 46 from her apartment complex to the gas station when she was struck by a westbound vehicle. A police officer witnessed the incident and pulled over to offer aide to the woman, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

No citations have been given due to the pending investigation. Speed was not said the be a factor in the case at this time. A total of 157 pedestrians were killed in New Jersey in 2009.

Pedestrian killed in Edison accident

An Edison woman was killed in a pedestrian accident after she was struck by a car on Route 1.

According to authorities, the 21-year-old woman was walking toward her place of employment at a child care center and was crossing the roadway on a red light when she was struck.

She was struck by a 25-year-old woman who car went off of the highway after the collision and she crashed into a utility pole before flipping over and landing on multiple other cars. The highway was closed for several hours after the accident.

Man charged after "American-Idol" wannabe was killed in accident

Last year, an energetic “American-Idol” hopeful was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Seaside, New Jersey. The man who struck her is now charged with aggravated manslaughter.

The 24-year-old man was also charged with death by auto, knowingly leaving the scene of the accident, and eluding police after the accident that killed the 25-year-old woman.

The woman was stuck by the car and her body was found at 5 a.m. on July 25. She died of head and torso injuries sustained in the accident.

Driver hits nine pedestrians in New Jersey

A man from the Bronx, New York struck nine pedestrians with his vehicle while attempting to leave a soccer match at Meadowlands Stadium. One of the pedestrians struck was a 20-month-old child.

The injured victims were transported to the hospital. Some suffered serious injury and there was one who suffered head trauma. The 20-month-old child’s injuries were described as minor.

The family was trying to cross the street to leave the soccer match around midnight when they were struck. The 21-year-old driver was charged with driving while intoxicated, assault with a vehicle, and leaving the scene of an accident.
