Cause of NJ plane crash still unknown

It may take a year for the National Transportation Safety Board to finish its investigation into the fatal airplane crash that occurred last week, killing all five people on board.

Last Tuesday, a single-engine Socata TBM 700 aircraft crashed onto Interstate 287 in Morristown, sending debris over a quarter mile. On board was a 45 year-old investment banker from Manhattan, his wife, their two children, his colleague, as well as the pilot.

Moments before the crash, the pilot contacted air traffic control to report icing on the aircraft. Investigators now say the pilot was in the middle of making an emergency call when radio and radar lost contact.
