According to auto insurance companies, car and deer collisions are up 21 percent over the past five years and have caused more that one million car accidents a year.
New Jersey is also seeing an increase according to the state Department of Transportation. Insurance providers have stated that the average accident costs after a deer and car accident are roughly $3,103.
About 200 people are killed a year after accidents with a deer or swerving to avoid a deer. Some think that the high speed limits on roadways are part of the reason that this number is so high.
