An Edison woman was killed in a pedestrian accident after she was struck by a car on Route 1.

According to authorities, the 21-year-old woman was walking toward her place of employment at a child care center and was crossing the roadway on a red light when she was struck.

She was struck by a 25-year-old woman who car went off of the highway after the collision and she crashed into a utility pole before flipping over and landing on multiple other cars. The highway was closed for several hours after the accident.
