Teen cyclist injured in crash

Posted on Friday, May 14th, 2010 at 8:59 am

A 15-year-old boy from River Vale, N.J., was injured Saturday afternoon when a motor vehicle crashed into him as he was riding his bicycle, authorities said. Police said the cyclist was riding along Westwood Avenue, and the accident occurred at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Westwood Avenue. The boy was taken by helicopter to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for treatment, authorities said.

Police said they did not expect to file any charges against the 51-year-old motor vehicle driver, because preliminary investigation did not reveal any impairment or criminal intent on his behalf. Authorities said the driver, a man from Bogota, N.J., was cooperative. As of Thursday, police were still investigating the vehicle accident.
