A woman was injured Thursday morning after being hit by a vehicle at the scene of a gas leak in northern New Jersey, authorities said. The woman is a first aid squad member who was assisting at the scene when a squad truck backed up and struck her, police said.

She was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, and authorities said she was alert and conscious. Police said her injuries did not appear life-threatening.
