Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Hillsdale at 3:18 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, on Oak Trail Road.
A preliminary accident investigation suggests that the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle was speeding through the quiet neighborhood when he rounded a bend and was forced to slam on the brakes to avoid smashing into a wood chipper.
At that point the driver lost control of his vehicle, fishtailing before striking a nearby parked car and jumping the curb onto the lawn of a private residence. The car then rolled over, partially trapping the driver and his two juvenile passengers.
The three occupants of the vehicle had managed to extricate themselves by the time authorities arrived at the scene. Police charged the driver with reckless driving and speeding.
Nobody was injured in the accident.
