Three-vehicle crash injures two

Posted on Tuesday, April 13th, 2010 at 12:59 pm

A 77-year-old Newark man lost control of his 2008 Nissan Pathfinder and rear-ended a 56-year-old Rahway man’s 2000 Toyota Tacoma this morning around 5:45 a.m. on the Garden State Parkway near Exit 148.

The collision pushed the Tacoma over a guardrail, causing it to roll down an embankment and strike a third vehicle on North Walnut street before coming to a stop. The Pathfinder was forced into a concrete driver.

The 77-year-old man suffered facial injuries but remains in stable condition, while the 56-year-old man sustained head injuries and is now in critical condition. Both men are currently housed in University Hospital in Newark.

Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in this accident.
